Police in Cyprus detained five people and issued 216 citations during a nighttime operation
The Cyprus Police conducted a nighttime preventive operation in urban areas across the country, stopping more than 730 vehicles and checking over 910 individuals. As a result, five people were detained and 216 citations were issued.
Two individuals were detained under existing court warrants in Nicosia and Limassol for burglary and theft, respectively. One person was detained in Paphos for causing a disturbance. Two individuals were detained for driving under the influence.
Operational activity was mainly focused on traffic control. Out of more than 580 alcohol checks, 38 drivers tested positive. Four drivers tested positive for narcotic substances.
Police also inspected 41 premises and issued six notices related to violations of business license conditions.
The department noted that these actions are part of an ongoing prevention plan предусматривающего enhanced presence, targeted checks, and immediate operational measures in all areas. According to police, the aim of the operations is to prevent serious crimes and ensure public order.
