Police Arrest Man Who Attacked Nicosia Hospital with a Knife
The Republic of Cyprus police have arrested a 29-year-old man who was wanted in connection with a knife attack at Nicosia General Hospital. He has been charged with attempted murder.
According to a police press release, the suspect was detained on Monday afternoon and arrested under a court-issued warrant.
The incident took place on Saturday afternoon in the emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital.
The man entered the facility, punched a doctor and two nurses, waved a knife around, and attempted to stab one of the patients in the waiting area.
In response, nurses held a two-hour strike outside the hospital on Monday, and a meeting was convened at the Presidential Palace to address the situation.
