The Cyprus Police are warning citizens about cases of phone fraud, in which scammers pose as employees of Revolut bank and attempt to gain access to bank accounts.

According to law enforcement authorities, the scammers call citizens claiming that someone is trying to steal money from their account. Under the pretext of "protecting funds," they ask for access codes, one-time passwords, PINs, and other confidential information. If these details are provided, the scammers immediately steal money from the victims’ bank accounts.

In this regard, the police urge the public to be especially vigilant and follow safety measures:

  • Do not answer such calls or follow the instructions of the caller;
  • Do not provide confidential information to anyone, including passwords, one-time codes, PINs, account details, or bank card information;
  • Verify the identity of the caller by contacting the bank exclusively through official support channels.

If a citizen has already provided any banking information to scammers, the police strongly recommend contacting their bank immediately to prevent unauthorized use of funds.

Investigations into such cases are ongoing, and citizens are urged to remain vigilant and not fall for fraudulent attempts.
