Attempted murder and arson in Pyla: convicted person arrested on suspicion of organizing the attack
In Larnaca, a 44-year-old third-country national was arrested on suspicion of involvement in the attempted murder of a security guard and the arson of four vehicles belonging to a car rental company in the village of Pyla. According to the Larnaca police, the incident occurred on August 14. The suspect, who was already in custody, was arrested on the morning of August 28. Physical evidence was seized during a search of his cell.
Today, the detainee was brought before the Larnaca District Court, which ordered him to remain in custody for eight days for further investigation. In connection with the same case, two other individuals have already been arrested: a 27-year-old third-country national and an 18-year-old EU citizen.
The investigation is being conducted by the Larnaca Criminal Investigation Department. According to police assessments, the arrests may be linked to organized criminal activity, reflecting the authorities’ focus on public safety on the island.
