Fire in the Larnaca area contained — 10 hectares of scrub burned
The Forest Department of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment reported that the fire, which started on Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:05 in the Stazous area near the Stavrovouni forest in the Larnaca district of Cyprus, was fully contained by 13:00. The fire affected about 10 hectares of scrub vegetation in difficult-to-access terrain.
The firefighting operation involved four aircraft, 55 Forest Department personnel with 12 fire trucks, three bulldozers, and three water tankers. The Fire Service deployed 23 personnel with eight fire trucks. The Hunting Service sent two personnel with one small fire truck.
Additionally, the operation included one small fire truck from the Pyrga community with four personnel and two small fire trucks from the Stavrovouni monastery with five personnel.
Ground forces remain on site to prevent possible fire reactivation. The causes of the fire are under investigation.
