Fire in the Paliometocho area of Cyprus brought under control
The fire that broke out on September 17, 2025, at 15:00 in the “Petsopouli” area of the Paliometocho community in Nicosia district, Cyprus, was fully brought under control at 16:30, according to the Department of Forests of the Ministry of Agriculture, Rural Development and Environment.
According to the department, the fire affected an area of about one hectare; low wild vegetation and dry reed thickets were damaged.
The firefighting operation involved one fire engine of the Forest Department with three staff members and one fire engine of the Fire Service with two staff members.
The department noted that the rapid intervention of the rescue forces made it possible to contain the blaze before it spread to a larger area.
The causes of the fire are currently under investigation.
