French President Emmanuel Macron to Visit Cyprus Amid Regional Tensions
French President Emmanuel Macron will visit Cyprus on Monday to demonstrate support for the country following a recent drone attack near the British airbase RAF Akrotiri.
During the visit, Macron will hold talks with Cypriot President Nikos Christodoulides. Greek Prime Minister Kyriakos Mitsotakis is also expected to arrive to discuss defense cooperation with Cypriot authorities.
France has already bolstered its military presence in the Eastern Mediterranean, deploying a frigate and air defense systems to the shores of Cyprus.
The Elysee Palace emphasized that the purpose of the visit is to express solidarity with Cyprus and strengthen security cooperation with European partners.
