Italian President Completes His First Working Visit to Cyprus
Today marks the conclusion of the two-day official visit of the President of the Italian Republic, Sergio Mattarella, to Cyprus. This is his first working trip to the island since the establishment of diplomatic relations between Italy and Cyprus.
This morning, the Italian leader met with the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Annita Demetriou, at the Parliament building.
Following this, Sergio Mattarella, accompanied by his daughter Laura Mattarella, met with members of the Italian UN peacekeeping forces at the headquarters of the mission in Nicosia. This was followed by a visit to seminars held by the Committee on Missing Persons.
The daughter of the President of Italy will also visit the Cyprus Archaeological Museum, organized by the First Lady, Photini Carsera. She will be guided through the museum by the Deputy Minister of Culture, Vasiliki Cassianidou.
At noon, the President of Italy and his entourage departed for Limassol, where, after a scheduled lunch, they will visit the Italian frigate "Carlo Bergamini" at the city's port.
The final stage of the Italian leader's visit program includes a visit to Paphos. Accompanied by President Nikos Christodoulides, the First Lady, and the Deputy Minister of Culture, Sergio Mattarella will tour the archaeological excavations of the House of Dionysus.
Then, the President of Italy is scheduled to depart from Paphos Airport.
