President of Cyprus opens Medical School of the University of Athens in Nicosia

A branch of the Medical School of the University of Athens named after Kapodistrias will open in Nicosia. According to Minister of Education Athina Michaelidou, 300 applications have already been submitted for 60 places.
The Cabinet approved the establishment of the branch as part of a strategy to attract foreign universities and develop Cyprus as a regional educational hub.
The institution will offer programs in Greek and English. The government expects to open the school by the end of October, while a suitable building is currently being selected.
The project will be part of a broader initiative to create a network of international universities in Cyprus — plans also include opening a campus in Larnaca.
