President of Cyprus to Meet UK Prime Minister Today
Republic of Cyprus President Nikos Christodoulides will meet with UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer in London on Wednesday.
According to government spokesperson Konstantinos Letimbiotis, Christodoulides is in London as part of a campaign to encourage experts from various fields to return to the island. The meeting with the British Prime Minister is set for 7:30 PM local time.
The two leaders will discuss regional and international developments, along with issues related to Cyprus–UK relations and cooperation between the EU and the UK ahead of Cyprus’s upcoming presidency of the EU Council.
Christodoulides will also update Starmer on recent developments regarding the Cyprus issue, including the appointment of Johannes Hahn as the EU’s special envoy, as well as his upcoming meeting with UN Secretary-General’s personal envoy, Maria Angela Holguín Cuéllar.
This will be the third meeting between Christodoulides and Starmer since Starmer took office in July 2024. The upcoming meeting follows Starmer’s historic visit to Cyprus in December 2024 — the first visit by a British Prime Minister to the island in 53 years.
