The Larnaca Provincial Self-Government Organization (EOAL) has launched its seventh Green Point, known as the Trullon Green Point, designed to collect household waste from six areas in the province. The project, which costs €655,000, will serve over 16,000 residents.

Agriculture Minister Maria Panayiotou attended the opening ceremony. This seventh Green Point in Larnaca will serve the areas of Trullo, Oroklini, Pyla, Ormideia, Livadia, Kellia, and Xylotymbou. The Trullon Green Point is the first of 14 Green Points to be built across Cyprus by the Department of Water Development as part of the "Expansion and Improvement of the Green Points Network" project, which is funded through the Recovery and Resilience Plan. The total budget for the project is €16 million.

EOAL President Angelos Hadjiharalambous urged citizens to actively use Green Points and take their household waste to the nearest and most accessible facility.

According to the Minister, this project is "one of the flagship initiatives of the Republic of Cyprus and aligns with the National Solid Waste Management Strategy, as well as the European directive on optimal household waste management."

The project was launched in Cyprus in 2010.

The Trullon Green Point is the 24th in the country’s strategic planning. Two new Green Points in Ayia Napa and Avgorou are currently under development, and plans for expanding the existing Alhambra Green Point are underway. Similar projects are also in the works for Sotira and Deryneia, Geri-Latsia, Nicosia-Aglantzia, and Lakatamia, while another Green Point in Larnaca is being upgraded.
