Flights from Israel to Paphos May Resume on March 7
Israeli airlines are expected to resume direct flights from Tel Aviv and Haifa to Paphos starting Friday, March 7, according to ticket sales data from Israeli carriers.
Local media reports that Israel’s national airline, EL AL, has begun selling tickets to Paphos starting March 7, while Arkia Airlines will start selling tickets for flights to Paphos from March 13. Experts predict that Israir and Air Haifa will resume flights to Paphos only in April.
Flights from Israel to Paphos Airport were suspended on January 26 by order of Israeli security services, due to unspecified security concerns. The country’s internal intelligence agency issued a directive banning all flights from Israeli airlines to the airport.
Although the directive lifting the ban has yet to be issued, representatives from the aviation industry expect it to be announced soon.
It is also noted that the disruptions caused by the suspension of flights from Israel have had little to no negative impact on Cyprus’s tourism industry.
