A serious incident involving a 42-year-old patient is being investigated at Larnaca General Hospital after she was found lying on the floor of a restroom in a severe, near-comatose condition. The case has caused a wide public outcry and has become the subject of an official investigation.
According to available information, the woman was undergoing treatment at the hospital. The circumstances under which she was left without medical supervision and ended up in critical condition are currently being clarified. The patient’s family claims that assistance was provided with a delay and is considering contacting the police and judicial authorities.
The incident was confirmed by government representatives. As stated by a responsible official, an official complaint was submitted to the Ministry of Health and was urgently forwarded the same day to the State Health Services Organization (OKYpY) for an internal investigation.
“I am awaiting the results of the investigation by OKYpY. The complaint was forwarded immediately and is being considered as a priority,” he said, stressing that all circumstances of the incident will be thoroughly examined.
It is noted that the incident occurred during a period when a minister was present at the same hospital, which further intensified public attention to the case.
OKYpY is reviewing the actions of the medical staff and the conditions of the patient’s stay at the medical facility. Additional statements are expected after the investigation is completed.
