The Russian party in Limassol ended with robbery and hostage-taking
The Cyprus police are investigating a robbery and hostage-taking that occurred at a Russian party in Limassol. Unknown individuals wearing masks burst into the premises amid the festivities.
According to the police press service, the previous evening, a lively party was taking place in a building in the Agios Georgios Alamanos area, which was previously used as a tavern. About 30 people, mostly Russians, were attending. However, the celebration was marred by an armed robbery.
In the midst of the party, around 9:30 PM, four hooded men armed with short-barreled firearms and a pistol entered the premises. The robbers fired shots into the air and forced the guests to lie on the floor, after which they took all their valuables: jewelry, mobile phones, money, car keys, and watches.
Two guests resisted, and the attackers hit them on the head, resulting in injuries. One victim suffered a head injury and a broken nose, while the other had a fractured skull. Both injured persons were taken to the hospital.
After the robbery, the perpetrators fled. One of the guests began pursuit and noticed a bag containing some of the stolen items at a distance from the party venue.
The scene is cordoned off and guarded by the police, who continue their investigation.
