London to Paphos Flight Makes Emergency Landing in France Due to Strong Scent of Essential Oil
A flight from London to Paphos was forced to make an emergency landing at Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg Airport on the French-Swiss border after several passengers fell ill mid-flight.
The incident happened on Tuesday afternoon when six passengers began experiencing severe headaches, reportedly triggered by a strong aroma of essential oil circulating in the cabin. Out of caution, the flight crew decided to divert the plane and land at Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg Airport in France.
After a brief delay, the passengers were transferred to another aircraft and continued their journey to Paphos without further incident.
The Basel–Mulhouse–Freiburg Airport—also known as EuroAirport—is a unique international airport jointly operated by France and Switzerland. Located in Saint-Louis, in France's Alsace region near the Swiss border, it is the only airport in the world managed by two countries.
