Sixth arrest in the case of the murder of Stavros Demosthenous in Limassol
A sixth person has been arrested in Cyprus in connection with the murder of football official and businessman Stavros Demosthenous, 49. The murder took place on Friday, October 17, around nine in the morning, near Limassol’s busy coastal highway.
Police announced the arrest of a 51-year-old man “to assist the ongoing investigation” into the murder. Earlier arrests were related to the purchase of a motor scooter used by the killers as a getaway vehicle.
According to the police, four of the detainees were involved in purchasing the racing motorcycle minutes after the crime. Reports indicate that the killers left behind a white van, which was later set on fire.
Authorities believe the arrested individuals may have played a logistical role in preparing and carrying out the crime. The investigation now focuses on gathering evidence that could lead to identifying the organizers and masterminds of the operation.
No public statements have been made about further arrests or charges. The investigation is ongoing.
