The Republic of Cyprus and the United States have signed a bilateral defense cooperation roadmap, marking a significant step in their military partnership.

The document was signed yesterday at the Ministry of Defense by Cyprus' Defense Minister, Vasilis Palmas, and the U.S. Assistant Secretary of Defense for International Security Affairs, Celeste Wallander. The signing took place in the presence of General George Tsitsikostas, Chief of the General Staff, and U.S. Ambassador to Cyprus, Julie Fisher.

“Today’s signing of the bilateral defense cooperation roadmap between the U.S. and Cyprus Ministries of Defense is clear evidence of our shared commitment to further strengthening and deepening our relationship,” Vasilis Palmas stated following the ceremony.

Celeste Wallander highlighted the importance of this milestone in the defense relationship between the two countries, saying, “This roadmap for bilateral defense cooperation helps us achieve our common security objectives and reflects the remarkable progress in our relations, especially over the last two years.”
