Peter and Glynis Ditchburn, a couple who have visited Ayia Napa 70 times

The municipality of Ayia Napa has awarded the British couple the title of “Tourism Ambassadors”. Mayor Christos Zannettou noted that the 70 visits are “living proof of their deep love for Ayia Napa”, adding that the city considers them “not just guests, but honorary local residents”. The award is part of the municipality’s strategy to encourage loyal visitors.
Ayia Napa remains a major tourist attraction amid the overall growth of tourism in Cyprus. From January to September 2025, arrivals increased by 10.3%. Britons remain the leading market: in September they accounted for 31.4% of arrivals. Average spending by tourists from the UK amounts to €726.42 per trip (+11.5% compared to 2024). In 2025, an additional growth of the British segment by 12% is expected.
Among other growing markets are Germany (+39.7% in September) and Poland (+9.9%). Tourism remains a key sector of the economy: in 2024 it brought Cyprus €3.2 billion.
