Customs confiscates 200 kg of animal products at checkpoint in Nicosia
At the Ayios Dometios checkpoint, customs officers stopped a vehicle carrying about 200 kilograms of animal bones and skins brought from the northern side of the island.

The incident occurred on November 6 during a routine inspection. The cargo belonged to a Turkish Cypriot driver who, after the confiscation, paid a €600 fine to settle the violation and retrieve the vehicle.
According to the Customs Department, animal products imported from the occupied territories pose a serious health risk as they may be a source of infectious diseases.
The department reminded that the “Green Line” rules strictly prohibit the transport of raw meat, bones, and other biological materials between the two sides of the island.
