Mathematics Teacher in Cyprus Suspected of Sexual Harassment
In Nicosia, a mathematics teacher has been arrested on suspicion of sexual harassment. He has been remanded in custody for 8 days.
The 49-year-old man was arrested on May 20 following a complaint from a 13-year-old girl that the teacher had made inappropriate gestures at the private tutoring institute where he works.
He was then remanded in custody for eight days, with the term of detention set to expire on May 28. However, on May 22, another 16-year-old girl filed a similar complaint of sexual harassment against the same teacher.
Most likely, the police will seek to keep the man in custody for further consideration of the complaints.
