14-kilometer coastal promenade nearing completion in Akamas, Cyprus
In the Peyia–Kissonerga area of the Akamas municipality in Cyprus, the completion of a 14-kilometer coastal promenade is expected in the coming months, according to the municipality. The first section was inaugurated by President Nikos Christodoulides in 2024.
Construction is progressing rapidly, with the entire project scheduled for completion by 2026. Within just the first year after its opening, the initial section became a favorite spot for walks and sports among hundreds of local residents and tourists.
According to Mayor Marinos Lambrou, the Peyia Coastal Promenade is a comprehensive urban development project with a total cost of €2.5 million. The first phase, stretching two kilometers, is part of the overall route from the marina area in Potima to the port of Agios Georgios in Peyia, totaling 14 km in length.
The first phase includes the construction of an amphitheater, an outdoor gym complex, a basketball court, a kiosk, and a children’s playground. The mayor noted that this phase is expected to be completed within approximately twelve months.
