A fire broke out in a car repair shop in Nicosia, and 12 cars were burnt
In Nicosia, a major fire broke out early this morning in a car repair shop, resulting in serious damage to 12 cars.
According to the fire department, the fire broke out at 5:37 a.m. in the Kaymakli area of Nicosia. At that time, the car repair shop was still closed. In addition to the cars, a small building used as a kitchen also burned down as a result of the fire.
According to Andreas Kettis, a representative of the fire department, four fire trucks from Nicosia fire stations were dispatched to the scene to combat the flames. Rescuers pumped water from a nearby tanker and used equipment to protect themselves from smoke.
All paint coatings in the main repair shop areas were damaged by smoke and soot.
Fire investigators will determine the cause of the fire.
It is also noted that in the last 24 hours, the fire services responded to 42 incidents, including 33 fires and nine emergency calls for other reasons.
