Three Earthquakes Shake Greece Within Two Hours; Tremors Felt in Turkey
Last night, a series of earthquakes hit Greece, with tremors extending to Turkey.
The Disaster and Emergency Management Authority (AFAD) reported that three earthquakes struck Greece within a two-hour period.
The first earthquake, measuring 3.9 on the Richter scale, occurred at 8:55 PM near Istiaia in Northern Evia. Five minutes later, at 9:00 PM, a second tremor with a magnitude of 4.2 was recorded. The epicenter of the first quake was 5 kilometers northwest of Vasilika at a depth of 13.8 kilometers, while the second was 5 kilometers west of Vasilika at a depth of 14.5 kilometers.
At 10:08 PM, a third earthquake with a magnitude of 4.3 hit Chalandritsa in Achaea. This quake's epicenter was located 11 kilometers southwest of the city at a depth of 20.3 kilometers.
AFAD stated that the earthquakes were especially felt in the Aegean region, including parts of Turkey. Fortunately, there have been no reports of casualties or damage.
