Three Abandoned Puppies Rescued in a Cypriot Village
In the village of Mitsero in the Nicosia district of Cyprus, three puppies that had been abandoned on the street were rescued. They will soon be taken to a shelter in hopes of finding loving homes.
The incident was reported by Anty Mouzouri, the coordinator of the Animal Protection Action Group of the Ecological Movement – Citizens’ Cooperation. The puppies were saved by a local animal lover who happened to be nearby.
“We must ask ourselves: has anything improved regarding animal welfare in Cyprus in 2024? Judging by this kind of behavior, the answer is no. Simply throwing away three small puppies as if they were garbage reflects the state of our society's civility. Let us remind you, once again, that abandoning animals is not only cruel but also a criminal offense, punishable by fines, imprisonment, or both. We urge compassionate citizens who witness such actions to report them to the police immediately,” the statement emphasized.
The rescued puppies—two males and one female—are now awaiting adoption. Mouzouri stressed that they will only be given to "people who genuinely love animals and are committed to providing them with the love and care they deserve, making them cherished members of their family."
