38-Year-Old Driver Detained in Larnaca After Ramming Two Patrol Cars
Yesterday evening in Larnaca, a 38-year-old man was detained following a police chase; while attempting to flee, he crashed into two patrol vehicles.
At approximately 18:40, while officers from the Traffic Police Headquarters and OPOD were conducting road checks near the Kalo Chorio roundabout in Larnaca, they signaled a car to stop. The driver failed to comply and ran a red light.
Two police patrols pursued the vehicle. The driver entered a dead-end street in the Aradippou area and, in an attempt to evade arrest, collided twice with the patrol cars, causing material damage.
A subsequent inspection revealed that the man was driving without a license, without insurance, and without an MOT certificate, while the vehicle's registration had been suspended. A breathalyzer test returned a result of 39 μg, exceeding the legal limit of 22 μg.
Aradippou Police Station is continuing the investigation into the incident.
