Larnaca is set to host a festival as part of its bid for the title of European Capital of Culture in 2030. The event, titled “Mantomahalart,” will take place on October 11 and 12 in the Ayios Ioannis district.

The festival will be curated by artist Antonis Giarridis, a local resident dedicated to highlighting the historical significance of the area.

“The goal of this initiative is to promote neighborhoods that are often overlooked in the artistic landscape of Larnaca. The festival's program aims to foster collaborative creativity and cultural democracy, presenting art as a public good that is accessible to everyone,” stated the festival organizers.

A diverse range of events will be featured during the festival, including visual arts exhibitions, open studios, graffiti displays, musical performances, street parties, guided tours, theatrical shows, communal meals, and street food vendors.

In addition, there will be an exhibition showcasing old photographs and videos accompanied by stories from local residents, encouraging community involvement.

Artists participating in the festival include Ioanna Kasiskis, Panayiotis Doukanaris, Evdokia Georgiou, and curator Antonis Giarridis.

The festival will also present two sculptures by Kostas Argirou, an exhibition titled “Red: Sacred and Profane,” curated by Theocharis Karagiannis, and a display of old photographs from local residents. The artist known as Twenty-three will create a graffiti piece titled "Alasia Serene” during the event.

“This festival will serve as a vibrant gathering place for people and cultures, reminiscent of traditional neighborhood get-togethers,” added the organizing committee for Larnaca 2030.

The complete festival program is available on the Larnaka 2030 Facebook page.
