Attack on a 51-year-old Ukrainian citizen under investigation in Larnaca

In the Larnaca area of Cyprus, police are investigating an attack on a 51-year-old Ukrainian citizen that occurred on the evening of November 20 at around 19:20. While giving a statement at the police station, the man reported that he had previously held a ministerial post in Ukraine.
According to the police, the incident took place near the house where the Ukrainian man was with his 36-year-old companion and her 72-year-old father. The man noticed a commercial van parked nearby with people inside. He and the elderly man went outside to find out what was happening.
At that moment, according to the victim, three people wearing medical masks tried to force him into the van. He resisted, after which the attackers abandoned the vehicle and fled.
Police officers who arrived at the scene discovered an abandoned commercial van with license plates that turned out to be registered to another vehicle. Inside they found a pistol with an empty magazine, a wig, and other items. All of this was seized as evidence.
The weapon has been sent for ballistic examination, and the remaining evidence has been sent for DNA analysis to identify those involved in the attack. The 51-year-old man and the 72-year-old pensioner suffered minor injuries.
