Virtual Tours of St. Helena's Route and Beekeeping Villages Launched in Larnaca
The Larnaca Tourism Development and Promotion Board has announced the launch of three new applications offering a virtual tourist experience.
The first project is a virtual tour dedicated to the religious route of St. Helena and the Holy Cross. Organized in collaboration with the Archdiocese of Trimithousa and Kition, the tour takes users on a virtual visit to historical sites linked to St. Helena’s arrival in Cyprus in 327 AD.
Among the key sites featured are the ancient port of Vasilikos, the Tenta area in Kalavasos, the community of Tochni with its religious landmarks, the Stavrovouni Monastery, and the church in Lefkara, where a relic of the Holy Cross is kept. The virtual tour is available here: https://virtuallarnakaregion.com/Agia-Eleni.
The second digital application offers a virtual tour of nine charming beekeeping villages in the Larnaca mountains, including Vavatsinia, Orou, Odo, Melini, Lagia, Kato Lefkara, Vavla, and Kato Drys.
This app highlights attractions related to beekeeping and honey production, such as the Beekeeping and Embroidery Museum in Kato-Drys, local apiaries, and beekeeping trails. The virtual route can be accessed here: https://virtuallarnakaregion.com/honeyvillages/.
The third digital project, set to launch soon, features a 3D restoration of the Church of St. Athanasius Pentaskinitis in the community of Agios Theodoros.
According to the Larnaca Tourism Board, this app, developed in cooperation with the Archdiocese of Trimithousa, accurately recreates the church’s original 8th-century appearance and provides important historical and religious context.
