Part of Metal Roof Structure Collapses at Construction Site in Limassol, Workers Evacuated
On March 23, 2026, in Limassol, part of a metal structure collapsed during the construction of the top floor and roof of an apartment building. The incident occurred at the intersection of Spyrou Kyprianou Avenue and Agias Fylaxeos Street in the city center.
According to reports, a concrete mixer was on site for pouring concrete; all workers were immediately evacuated from the area. No injuries have been reported so far.
Representatives from the Department of Labour Inspection and the Cyprus Police arrived at the scene to investigate the causes of the incident. Eyewitnesses reported a loud noise at the moment of the collapse, which caused concern among local residents.
For Limassol residents, this means possible temporary traffic restrictions and an increased presence of emergency services at the scene during the inspection. Official departments are continuing their investigation; additional data will be available upon completion of the verification measures.
