21-Year-Old Syrian Arrested in Limassol for Possession of 263 Captagon Pills

In Limassol, a 21-year-old Syrian national has been arrested after police reportedly found 263 Captagon pills — the so-called "jihadist pills" — under his mattress.

On Thursday morning (February 19), the suspect appeared before the Limassol District Court. Officers from the Drug Squad (YKAN) requested a seven-day remand. The court granted the request, ordering the young man to remain in custody.

Police reportedly received intelligence that the suspect was in possession of a large batch of pills and was allegedly selling them to his compatriots. Following this, an operation was conducted at an apartment in the Germasogeia area, where the 21-year-old resides.

During the search, 263 Captagon pills weighing approximately 44 grams were found under his mattress, wrapped in two sheets of white paper. Investigations revealed the pills contain amphetamine and fenethylline.

The suspect was taken to the YKAN office for questioning, where he denied involvement and made several claims that are currently being verified.

Two other compatriots living in the same apartment were also taken to the station. They denied any connection to the drugs. DNA samples were taken from all three for further forensic examination.
