A 16-year-old arrested in Limassol for riding a stolen motorcycle and attempting to flee
In Limassol, on Tuesday night around 10:30 PM, police detained a 16-year-old teenager who was riding a stolen motorcycle and tried to escape from the patrol by performing dangerous maneuvers. Officers from the "Z" unit stopped the vehicle during a raid in the Agias Fylas area.
After the escape attempt was stopped, it was found that the teenager did not have a driver's license and the vehicle did not have a valid insurance policy. The 125 cc motorcycle had previously been reported to the police as stolen — the theft report was filed on August 6, when the vehicle was parked in Limassol.
The teenager was detained for offenses related to traffic violations and handling stolen property and taken to the local police station; his father was called to the scene. The Limassol Traffic Police and Limassol Central Police Station are involved in the further investigation.
What this means for Cyprus residents: motorcycle and scooter owners should secure and insure their vehicles promptly, and report any suspected theft to the police immediately. Parents should monitor minors and remind them that driving without a license is prohibited — this can lead to criminal consequences.
