Georgian Fugitive Wanted in Greece Arrested in Limassol
A 41-year-old man from Georgia has been arrested in Limassol after being sought by Greek authorities.
According to the police press office, the suspect was detained on Thursday evening by officers from the police’s bicycle patrol. He was spotted walking in the Ayia Zoni area and taken into custody.
Authorities are now considering issuing a European arrest warrant for his involvement in an attempted theft in Thessaloniki.
The arrested man has a criminal history. In November of this year, he was tried in absentia and sentenced to five years and 11 months in prison.
The suspect is expected to appear before the Limassol District Court today to begin the extradition process.
