Roads to Be Closed in Limassol and Larnaca Due to Hunters' Protest
The United Hunters' Movement of Cyprus is organizing a protest on March 15 in Limassol and Larnaca, during which several roads will be temporarily closed.
Hunters plan to block two major roundabouts to protest against the mismanagement of hunting grounds, restrictions on dog training, and the rise in poaching. The movement is urging authorities to immediately review the relevant regulations.
According to the organizers, the hunting community in Cyprus has been facing serious challenges for years:
“A failed management system has led to the depletion of hunting areas.”
The demonstrations will take place from 11:00 AM to 11:45 AM at two locations:
- Near Themistokleio Stadium in Limassol
- At the parking lot of the Cosmyria banquet hall in Larnaca
The Hunters’ Key Demands:
- More designated training areas for hunting dogs
- Protection from activists who disrupt hunting activities
- Regulations to limit the uncontrolled expansion of solar (photovoltaic) parks in hunting areas
- Stricter penalties for poaching
Roads That Will Be Blocked:
- Troodos Roundabout (affecting traffic in Paphos and Limassol districts)
- Rizoelia Roundabout (affecting traffic in Famagusta, Larnaca, and Nicosia districts)
