A Russian man was beaten and robbed in Limassol: a Ukrainian is suspected
A Russian man was attacked in Limassol. The man was beaten and robbed while attempting to exchange 10,000 euros. A Ukrainian citizen is suspected in the crime.
According to the state television channel CyBC, the attack on the 38-year-old Russian citizen occurred on Tuesday evening, around 19:00, in the tourist area of Germasoyia.
Preliminary information suggests that shortly before the attack, the victim arranged to meet with a 30-year-old Ukrainian through an online platform to exchange 10,000 euros for US dollars.
Upon arriving at the agreed location, the Russian man stopped his car, and the 30-year-old Ukrainian got into the passenger seat. While the victim was counting the money, the passenger attacked him using a stun gun and began beating him. Additionally, a second man, who was nearby, joined in the assault.
In the end, the victim managed to take the stun gun from the attackers, after which he attempted to drive away but crashed into a parked car.
The assailants were still able to take the victim's money, as well as a bag containing credit cards and mobile phones, before fleeing the scene of the crime. The victim reported the incident to the police.
Upon arrival, law enforcement officers seized the stun gun as physical evidence. The investigation into the attack on the Russian man is ongoing.
