In Limassol, a car plunged off a 50-meter cliff: a young driver died
An accident with a fatal outcome occurred in Limassol yesterday evening. The 20-year-old driver died when the car fell off a cliff.
According to the police press service, the emergency services were alerted about the tragedy through the 112 hotline on Sunday evening around 19:40. The accident happened in Agia Fila in Limassol. Firefighters, police officers, and an ambulance arrived at the scene.
Upon inspection of the accident site, it was determined that the car, driven by 20-year-old Dimitris Michael , fell off a 50-meter cliff. By the time rescuers arrived, the driver inside the car was already deceased. Most likely, he died upon impact.
There were no signs of braking before the cliff, and furthermore, the young man was not wearing a seatbelt. Firefighters needed to assist in extracting the body from the wrecked car.
The circumstances of the tragedy are being investigated.
