New Bus Stops and Bike Lanes to Be Built in Limassol
A new contract has been signed in Cyprus for the construction of additional bus stops and bike lanes in Limassol. The upgrades will take place along Nikos and Despina Pattichi Avenues as part of the city’s Sustainable Urban Mobility Plan.
The contract was signed by Eleftherios Eleftheriou, Director of the Public Works Department, and the construction firm Cyfield Construction Limited.
The project aims to promote public transport use by improving multimodal connections at key transport hubs throughout the city. Planned improvements include resurfacing the roads, creating dedicated bus lanes and stops, building bike paths and related infrastructure, introducing on-street parking, upgrading sidewalks, and installing signal-controlled pedestrian crossings such as pelican and zebra crossings, along with new traffic lights.
The contract was awarded through an open tender process, with a total cost of €2.85 million (excluding VAT). The work is expected to be completed within nine months.
The project is co-financed by the European Union under the Recovery and Resilience Facility, which supports sustainable urban mobility initiatives and efforts to improve accessibility.
