In Limassol, the location for New Year celebrations has changed this year
In Limassol, the location for New Year celebrations has changed this year. Instead of the traditional shopping street Anexartisias, on December 31, the residents are invited to the Old Port.
"We are changing the time; we are changing the space! This year, festive Limassol will welcome the New Year from Mikhail Kakoyannis Square, in front of the old port," the municipality announced.
The New Year celebration party will start at Mikhail Kakoyannis Square (formerly Syntagma Square) at 22:00 and last until 1:00 on January 1. Guests can expect fireworks and a performance by DJ Bereck. The evening will conclude with a festive fireworks display.
It is also worth noting that today, on December 29, the Limassol Municipality held its annual New Year celebration at the Municipal Hall. During the event, the Bishop of Limassol conducted a blessing ceremony. This was followed by the traditional cake cutting and the presentation of honorary plaques to the cleaning service employees who demonstrated significant results and diligence in their work in 2023.
