Teenagers Caught in Limassol Carrying Gasoline and a Lighter
Two suspicious teenagers were spotted wandering the streets of Limassol late at night carrying a canister of gasoline and a lighter. One of them has been arrested.
According to a statement from the police, at around 2:50 a.m., a patrol unit from the Limassol Police Department noticed two young individuals walking along Agias Fylaxeos Street. Officers stopped them for questioning and were immediately struck by a strong smell of fuel. During the search, police found two small plastic bottles filled with gasoline in their pockets. One of the boys was also carrying a lighter.
It was later confirmed that the boys were 13 and 15 years old. Police believe they may have been planning to start fires in the area.
Both teenagers were taken to the Agios Ioannis Police Station. The gasoline and lighter were confiscated as evidence. Legal action in line with juvenile law was taken against the 13-year-old. The 15-year-old was arrested on charges of vagrancy and homelessness. He appeared before the District Court, which issued a one-day detention order.
The parents of both minors were called to the police station. The case is still under investigation.
