The Municipality of Ayia Napa has announced the cancellation of the carnival parade "Ti Rio… What a Leo!", which was scheduled to take place in the municipal district of Liopetri on Sunday, February 22, 2026.

As a result of the crash, 19-year-old Christina Achilleos from Sotira lost her life, while three other young people from Sotira and Liopetri were injured. One of the victims remains in critical condition at Nicosia General Hospital.

The Municipality of Ayia Napa emphasized that the cancellation of the event is a mark of respect for the memory of the deceased and support for their families.

Mayor Christos Zannettou, the Deputy Mayors of the municipal districts of Sotira, Liopetri, Avgorou, Achna, and Ayia Napa, as well as members of the Municipal Council and staff, expressed their sincere condolences to the families of Christina Achilleos and Kyriakos Spyrou and wished a speedy and full recovery to the injured.
