March Sees Surge in Tourists from Israel and Sweden Despite Overall Dip

Cyprus experienced a slight drop in total tourist arrivals this March, but saw a significant spike in visitors from Israel and Sweden.

According to a report released by the Cyprus Statistical Service, 200,736 tourists visited the island in March 2025 — a 0.8% decrease compared to the 202,256 arrivals recorded in March 2024.

Despite the minor decline last month, tourism figures for the first quarter of the year remain strong. Between January and March 2025, Cyprus welcomed 446,596 visitors, reflecting a 7.5% increase from the 415,251 arrivals during the same period in 2024.

The United Kingdom remained the leading source of tourism, accounting for 30.7% of arrivals in March (61,545 visitors). It was followed by:

  • Israel – 14.1% (28,353 visitors)

  • Poland – 9.9% (19,827 visitors)

  • Germany – 8.0% (16,084 visitors)

  • Greece – 6.5% (13,053 visitors)

Tourist arrivals from Israel jumped by 70.6%, while those from Sweden soared by an impressive 170.7%. There was also a 60% increase in the number of visitors from the Netherlands.

Holidays were the primary reason people chose to visit Cyprus in March, making up 69.4% of all arrivals. The data is based on passenger surveys conducted at Larnaca and Paphos airports, as well as administrative sources such as port records.
