Father of Deceased Three-Month-Old Girl Arrested in Nicosia
Cyprus police are investigating the death of a three-month-old baby in Nicosia. The baby’s 23-year-old father has been arrested in connection with the case.
According to the police press office, the hospital in Nicosia reported the baby’s death on the afternoon of July 28. The child had been brought to the hospital by ambulance and admitted to the emergency department. Despite the doctors’ efforts, the baby did not survive.
During the examination, police officers found clear signs of neglect. As a result, a warrant was issued for the father’s arrest. He is suspected of causing death through reckless, negligent, or dangerous actions, as well as failing in his parental responsibilities.
The father was arrested and taken into custody on July 29. He appeared before the Nicosia District Court yesterday, which ordered his detention for eight days.
The autopsy also revealed "signs of severe neglect" on the child’s body.
Additionally, a warrant has been issued for the arrest of the mother, who is currently outside the country. She left Cyprus for Greece a few days ago.
