In Nicosia, nearly 7 kilograms of cannabis were seized, hidden in garbage bags
The Cyprus police seized a large consignment of drugs in the Nicosia area. According to an official statement, officers of the Drug Enforcement Unit (ΥΚΑΝ), as part of an investigation based on operational information, discovered nearly seven kilograms of cannabis hidden in garbage bags.
During the inspection, two plastic bags were found containing 12 vacuum-packed bags of dried cannabis. The total weight of the seized substance amounted to 6 kilograms 840 grams.
The drugs were carefully packaged, which, according to the investigation, indicates an attempt at transportation and possibly preparation for sale. An investigation is currently ongoing to identify the individuals involved in storing and distributing the narcotics, as well as to determine the origin of the seized cannabis.
The Drug Enforcement Unit is conducting further operational measures. The police have not yet reported any arrests in this case, but do not rule out further actions in the near future.
