An attempted murder of a motorcyclist was committed in Nicosia
On Tuesday afternoon in Nicosia, an attempted murder took place. The assailant, riding a motorcycle, fired three shots at the motorcyclist.
According to the police press service, the attempted murder occurred around one o'clock in the afternoon on the Antoupoli-Palechori road, in the Lakatamia area. At the time of the attack, the injured man was riding a motorcycle after visiting the central prisons. It is reported that the victim of the attack is "well known to the authorities and police."
The injured man was taken to the emergency department of Nicosia General Hospital in critical condition. Preliminary information suggests that one of the three shots hit the victim in the neck. As a result of the attack, the road was blocked during rush hour, leading to traffic jams.
Police officers sealed off the scene and closed the road from the Antoupolis roundabout to Antoupolis Palechoriou street. The assailant has been declared wanted.
