Undocumented Migrant Caught Driving Stolen Car Without License in Nicosia
An undocumented migrant was arrested in Nicosia after being caught driving a stolen car without a driver’s license, insurance, or valid road tax. The incident took place late last night during a routine traffic stop on Makarios Avenue in the Kokkinotrimithia area.
Traffic police officers pulled over the vehicle and found a 33-year-old man behind the wheel. During the check, officers discovered that the man had no driving license, the vehicle was uninsured, and its road tax had expired. Further investigation revealed that the car had been reported stolen on May 15.
The man was immediately taken into custody. Subsequent checks by the Immigration and Aliens Service confirmed that he was living in the Republic of Cyprus illegally.
The Kokkinotrimithia police station is continuing the investigation.
