37 Kilograms of Cannabis Seized in Paphos
Authorities in Cyprus have intercepted yet another major drug shipment. During a coordinated operation by the Drug Law Enforcement Unit (YKAN) in the Paphos district, police seized 37 kilograms of cannabis.
How the Bust Unfolded
According to the police, the operation took place on Tuesday afternoon, when anti-narcotics officers noticed a suspicious man digging up a package in a field. The 55-year-old suspect was stopped for questioning, and upon searching him, officers found and confiscated a package containing approximately one kilogram of cannabis.
A closer inspection of the area led to a bigger discovery—a buried storage container filled with 29 more packages of a dry green plant-based substance, later confirmed to be cannabis. In total, police seized 37 kilograms and 451 grams of the drug.
Legal Proceedings
The 55-year-old suspect was arrested on a court warrant and is expected to appear before the Paphos District Court today for a custody hearing.
