New fire extinguished in Paphos
A new outbreak of fire, which occurred late Monday morning in the gorge known as «Charadra tis Kolasis» between Stroumbi and Kili, was quickly brought under control. This was reported by the spokesperson of the Cyprus Fire Service, Andreas Kettis.
According to him, the fire was contained with the help of water drops from two aerial units, while ground crews held the perimeter and carried out work to fully stabilize the situation.
Kettis specified that two helicopters expected from Jordan arrived in Cyprus after noon. They are on standby and can be deployed to extinguish new hotspots if they appear. He also emphasized that none of the ground teams have been withdrawn from the fire area — all forces remain in place.
