In Paphos, an underground laboratory producing hazardous hookah tobacco was uncovered.
The Paphos police raided an illegal tobacco laboratory. A local resident was arrested on suspicion of manufacturing and distributing hookah tobacco.
According to the police press office, a 40-year-old resident of Paphos was arrested on Thursday after authorities discovered an illegal tobacco laboratory in his home. The suspect was caught manufacturing and distributing hookah tobacco resembling a popular brand.
Customs department officials found a total of 71 kg of processed and unprocessed tobacco, along with various chemicals and equipment, in the laboratory.
The intervention prevented the entry of low-quality tobacco into the market. These products have the potential to harm consumers' health.
The suspect was arrested and taken to the Paphos District Court.
