Teenagers in Paphos Hurl Firecrackers at Police During Easter Patrols
A group of teenagers in Paphos threw firecrackers at police officers during Easter inspections. A 16-year-old boy has been arrested.
According to a statement from the police press office, officers carried out 108 inspections overnight and into the early morning hours in parks, churchyards, and other public spaces often frequented by young people during the holiday.
During one of the checks, officers arrested a 16-year-old for the illegal possession of explosives. The incident occurred around 9:00 PM. Police responded to reports of firecrackers being thrown in a public field in Paphos. Upon arrival, they found a group of about 15 youths, who attempted to flee. One was caught, and six firecrackers were discovered in his waist bag. He was arrested for illegal possession of explosives.
During the arrest, the teenager resisted, and his friends threw more firecrackers at the officers. Fortunately, no one was injured. The suspect was taken to the Paphos police station, where he was questioned in the presence of his parents and lawyer. He is currently in custody.
