In Paphos, over the past weekend, a major fire broke out at an archaeological site. As a result of the incident, an area of about five acres was burnt.

Andreas Ketti, a representative of the Cyprus Fire Service, explained on the X platform that the fire started on Sunday at 14:28 at the fenced archaeological site on Apostle Paul Avenue near the Paphos shopping center. Three fire engines from the city and province of Paphos arrived at the scene.

It was found that the fire broke out due to dry grass and spread to an area of about five acres (20,000 square meters). Two officials from the Department of Forestry also arrived at the scene.
