31-Year-Old Ukrainian Man Drowns in Paphos
A 31-year-old Ukrainian man, who was a permanent resident of the area, drowned in Paphos. The man fell into the water and went missing. He was later found dead.
According to the police press service, the tragedy occurred on Thursday afternoon in the "Agios Georgios Pegeia" area of Paphos.
As reported by Alphanews, tourists in the area saw the man walking on the rocks. At some point, he fell into the water. Initially, they saw him swimming, but soon after, they lost sight of him and called for help.
The search for the man involved police officers, a boat from the port and marine police, rescuers from the Paphos district administration, and a helicopter from the 460th Search and Rescue Squadron of the Hellenic Air Force, which had a specialist air ambulance nurse on board.
After some time, the missing 31-year-old Ukrainian man was found unresponsive. He was taken to Paphos General Hospital, where the attending doctor confirmed his death.
